OK - this project started off as a "5 minute job" and has now exploded into something else - as is the way when you learn new skills and how they can be applied

In addition to my fun in HEX coding & HL2 models (yes that was british humour) I think I'm reaching an end point (or at least a point I'm happy showing a WIP to my peer)

I set out to make a Halo3 skin in Half-Life2 for a fellow machinimator by the alias of Kootra based on the the following picture

(I've already yielded my voice several times and more recently the skills I have learned in Source SDK's face poser)


Now i have a couple of high res screen grabs i would like your opinion on - basically what needs changing (without using a 3d model engine) and are the eight circle pattern too obvious

So what am I asking?
basically, what needs changing? is the eight circle pattern too obvious (its my watermark in all graphical projects)?

OK colour scheme one is done with 9 different facial models - is there anything else you recon i should add to best make it match the original civilians?

I think the collar needs lengthening and its colour changing, if possible. Also the material texture isn't quite right - seems more 'canvas' than leather; needs some shoulder pads, and it's shirt and trousers rather than jumpsuit. I'm not sure how much of this is possible to change, just pointing out some differences (which you no doubt already noticed). Smiley

most people i have asked have raved about it so nice to get some honest feedback

some is, some isn't
- I'll try the alternate collar colour but size is limited by model (a level beyond me atm)
- same applies for shoulder pads & suit/trouser design
- the texture map i nicked from JBarne's Max Payne's cleaners (twas tidiest i could borrow)
- ideally i would take a jump suit design (ie like barney's or frohmans) and then re-texture it (which now that i think about will make as part of v2)
